Mooreeffoc: beauty and the beast - La bella e la bestia
Roomeeffoc Thursday
The provoking post
Giovedì Roomeeffoc
La provocazione per riflettere
Il testo italiano è qui sotto
You can’t
play trick with your kids. That’s the claim of this
post which criticize the
habit to dress and make up very young girls like lolitas. All the moms are
proud of their kids, ça va sans dire, but there is a limit to this healthy
pride that we must not overcome.
What’s
happening is that an increasing number of mothers tends to misunderstand care for their daughters with a wrong
sense of exhibitionism. The origin of the post is the opening in Italy of new kid’s
beauty center for girls under 14, whose aim is not to
enhance the fresh beauty of a kid, but to transform the little girls in teasing
lolitas.
Even if the
number of insane mothers, like
to one who has been recently kicked off
from Anderson Cooper,
is still little (anyway even one is too much), the interest for a crazy sense
of beauty seem to be a growing disease.
Which is
the reason for this? Why do some women act this way? What are they teaching
about life to their daughters?
What do you
think?
modo?

There are
few books that we are using extensively in our education strategy and in our
job as parenting consultant and lecturers: we mentioned several time in this
blog the works of Gary Chapman and his wife, the two books written by Mariolina
Migliarese (and let me strongly suggest to our foreigners readers to work for a
translation of these texts in their own language) and the book by Meg Meeker
Strong Father Strong Daughter.
We want to
use for this roomeeffoc post some sentences that were offered by Mariolina in one of her conferences to present
her books. We believe they are strong and they can provide a powerful food for
thoughts.
Let’s first
state them before writing some comments while waiting for yours.
Marriage should be define as that specific relation between a man and a
woman whose timeframe is forever
Only living a
“forever relation” you feel at ease to show your weaknesses and frailties
Living together and being married pretend and
produce two different kind of relation
We won’t of
course attack those who have decided to skip or delay marriage, we are just
discussing why we do believe that indissoluble marriage is the best condition
to set a family and to live together.
The first
sentence simply state that there are many kind of relation that link a man and
a woman and marriage should be the
one defined by indissolubility, by a life together without end.
Actually
the “forever” condition is the only one that allows a couple to love without
limitations. Please note that I wrote allows and not implies. Since people have
a free will, it’s their job to make this condition possible. Having said so it
is clear that once you feel protected by a shield of love that gives before
asking, you feel free and at ease to show your limitations since you can rely
upon a spouse that will forgive you and help you to change. One of the goal of
marriage is mutual improvement. To improve we need to be aware of our
weaknesses and show them to whom can help us to overcome them.
If you
believe that love can be based on excellent performances, and that your life
together will last till keep them at the highest possible level, you will start soon to lie to cover your
mistakes and frailties, thus jeopardizing your relation.
This is why
the output of marriage and living together implies and produces two different
kind of relation, one based on gratuity while the other one is based on
reciprocal satisfaction.
Once more I
like to state that I do not want to criticize neither claim that people who are
not married are bad people. Nothing is farthest in my mind.
I just like
to offer a position to discuss. Nothing more.
And now
it’s up to you.

La provocazione per riflettere
I'd like to repost one of our first articles, under the cover of Roomeeffoc, and we decided to do so because we believe than in these last two years the problem increased and increased. So let's try to talk again about it and drop the bomb.

Some weeks ago I talked to a large group of parents, whose babies are less than three years old. I introduced the role of the father, why and what it’s important and what a father has to do. Everyone agreed, even moms. And than… boom. A young father affirmed his agreement in theory, denying theory could become reality because of wondermoms. That what he said: there are too much wondermoms around, preventing fathers to take their role, building borders around children, confining fathers in their offices, far from home, far from the heart of the family.
Is that true? Are we in the middle of the moms-dads war?
It is quite evident that the true weaker sex is… man. And we are weaker firstly because we claim not to be.
Let’s say it clearly: women are truly stronger. They can resist pain and suffering much better than men, and longer. They are used to patience and resistance. They can do what a man does, if they want. Men can’t. They have, nowadays, a much strong personality, a firmer determination, a more solid and healthy will. To build on this women also have a clearer capacity to plan their life: men tend to be more focused on the present escaping moment than on their future life. It is much more likely to find male than female adult teens.
We, the men, weaker and weaker, we have been pushed in a corner by women. Especially in the family. What started in the end of last century, the deconstruction of the role of the father –can you remember, in those ugly novels, the mother pointing the tired father, eating after a long and hard day in the mine, to the sun shouting “you have to study if you do not want to become like your father!”?- reached the goal with the end of the XX century and we are now discovering how wrong it was.
Let’s be clear: men are guilty. We are not trying to hide responsibility. We, men, liked that role of bread-feeder: we could stay away from family problems, children issues, just absorbed in our heroic job, a sort of an old warrior not fighting dragons or ogres but figures and markets. If it was a trick, we bought it!
And then, when it became clear that women could easily overcome us even in the workplace we couldn’t find out another place where to go, another role to play. We just keep on fighting to defend our borders and our land.
But the family was gone. Unfortunately, since nature doesn’t like tricks, children were gone too.
As many authors claim you cannot just delete the father from the family. You can find more details in these interesting posts, which are different from the ones you can find in the italian session pointing to italian articles and websites.
Now. That’s the situation. So what?
How comes that fathers cannot fight back to defend their role, which in the end is not a privilege but a duty? How come that fathers cannot stand their wives claims?
How can this big problem be solved? What are your thoughts and suggestions on this subject?
Testo in italiano
Ci stiamo drammaticamente rendendo conto dell’errore commesso.
E’ troppo tardi?

Dyslexia is nothing to laugh at. And even we are under the cover of the Roomeeffoc Thursday we want mock in anyway this tragic and painful problem that upset many families. I want to be very clear about this to avoid any potential misunderstanding and sufferance that I do not want to cause in any way.
I’m not
talking of a certified pathology, an manifest language disorder.
Having said
that I feel free to point out a phenomenon which is increasing rapidly in
Italian school, and it would be great to know more from our foreigner readers
about what’s going on in their country. The fact is easy: as soon as in middle
school marks worsen, and study becomes more difficult and demanding, here we
are: a magic certification that the kid is affected by some learning
disorder.
The
consequences are simple: a different way of evaluation, simpler, different
homeworks and different way of checking what has been learnt.
Once more
I’d like to underline that I’m not talking of kids who actually suffer dyslexia
or something similar: what I want to point out is that some families, a growing
number though, are using this short cut to apparently help their children,
while actually, far from being of any help, they are causing severe
consequences in their kids: a loss of self-esteem and self-confidence, taking
from them the chance to learn through efforts to reinforce their will and
personality, exposing them to the mockery of other kids, showing them that if
you are smart enough you could always find a cutoff through problems even if
this is unfair or even illegal.
Is this
what we call love?
Testo in italiano
l’insegnamento e genera bamboccioni, caratteri flaccidi ego referenziati, personalità
compagni.
Secondo voi questo è amore?

It’s so
politically incorrect that you cannot find the news on the web. I just have a
photocopy of the original article appeared on the weekly magazine of the
Corriere della Sera. Well, actually I found it on the net, but not the article,
the full magazine in a
pdf format, and the text I’d like to talk to is in the last page. By Aldo
Grasso.
What
surprised me is not what he wrote, that I actually agree with, but the fact
that no one attacked him for what he wrote.
He said
that well a slap, a buffet, well it’s not such a mistake, you can use them with
kids as a support in education.
Don’t start
complaining or aggressing him or me. Please listen. We are inside the
Mooreeffoc shield, where we can use paradox, provocation as a mean to discuss
and reason and reach a higher level of awareness. All of us.
None of us
is saying that you have to be violent in education. Neither that you are allow
to use violence. What he said, and I agree, is that sometime you might need to
be very firm, and that kind of firmness sometime requires blunt answers. And a
slap could be one.
I would
like to differentiate violence from steadiness. If you kid were in danger
you would act immediatley and
firmly, maybe tugging her/him to take her/him off the street. Isn’t that
violence? Well in some way. If you use to tug your kid everytime, that would be
violence. It’s the context that makes the difference. Is the goal that makes
the difference. Are you acting for her/his good, healthy or just to blow off?
The problem
is: what do we mean for our kids’ good?

Beh, in realtà l'ho
nell'educazione, come strumento educativo.
Non cominciate a lamentarvi o aggredire lui o me. Per favore
ascoltate.
figli"?

Mooreeffoc: killing the web - Sparare al pc

Giovedi Mooreeffoc - Mooreeffoc Thursday
Lieto fine.
English version
What a
sample! He became a web star with his performance. Protected by the Morreeffoc
shield let’s talk about Tommy Jordan the father who shot his daughter’s PC.
Why?
Because she was complaining on Facebook. She claimed to rights without
accepting to have duties. This is the charge. Following Tommy of course.
Now we do
not know what is the truth and what was really going on. Web magazine told us
that in the end they agreed a way out and made peace. Happy ending. By the way very American, we would say in Italy.
My point
is: is that assertiveness right? That steadiness was due? Did Tommy take the
right choice?
In
principle I would say yes: we –parents- have to say no, to show where borders
are, where walls stand. He stated clearly and with reasons his position and to
us there is a lot of plausibility.
Well, maybe
overwhelmed by my love for high tech, I would have not shot the pc, but….
What do you

Mooreeffoc - La provocazione del giovedì
Scroll down for English version - thank you
Giovedi Mooreeffoc - Mooreeffoc Thursday
Persona B "Puoi aiutarmi a capire meglio? Lui è geloso di chi? Grazie "
English version
Now we are inside our Mooreeffoc harbour, sheltered by the shield of the “other point of view” approach. So we know we can be provocative and rude because we want to squeeze the meaning of what happens around us from the dark side, the harsh one.
This is an
exchange of post we found in a webpage for parents, about education
Person A “Is there someone who can help me
providing hints to overcome an avowed
jealousy of a 12 years old boy ?”
Person B “Can you help us understand better? He
is jealous of whom? Thank you”
Person A ”he is jealous of his mother, a
divorced woman who now is dating another man. I personally suggested her to use
with the boy the Bach flowers remedies, specifically Holly”
Person C “I would rather send the boy right now to a
psychiatrist”
Our first
reaction to this dialogue was pain and astonishment. Are we living in the same
world or are we totally out of reality?
Then we
started to think about and we tried to squash out a lesson for ourselves, that
we want to share and submit to your evaluation.
1) It
seems here we have two different approaches and a same root: the origin is to
have a problem solved without persona commitment. Send him to the psychiatrist
or use a natural remedy implies no personal effort. It’s not my problem.
2)
Someone
said that when we ceased believing in God we actually started believing in everything:
do we really believe that we can face the problem of a teen, who requires love,
with a tisane or a perfume?
3) We cannot of course judge and sentence this mom, it would be really overbold and
unwary, but we could suggest that she seems too focused on her new partner than
on her kid. Trying to be less selfish and more parent could help both.
4)
Unfortunately
what society teach, should we say impose, us is to be self-centered and
egocentric and try to satisfy our needs and desires. Which can be the case of
both the person involved by the way. The only difference is that one is a kid
and the other one a parent: who should be the one who strive to solve the
problem, teaching first by example what is love and how it should be lived?
What do you
think about?

Che cosa è Mooreeffoc? What is Mooreeffoc?
English version - Mooreeffoc Thursday
Giovedi Mooreeffoc - Mooreeffoc Thursday
Che cosa è Mooreeffoc? What is Mooreeffoc?
Family 2012.
A proposito: ci sarete?
Family
2012. Do you know what it is? Is the 7th world meeting of families
that will take place in Milan from May 29th to June 3rd
Five days of meetings, workshops, lessons with a special happy ending: the Sunday Mass
celebrated by Her Holiness Benedict XVI in the Bresso airport.
Are you
coming? That could be a good chance to meet.
We took
recently part to a meeting presenting the program and asking for volunteers and
for hospitality. We will host a 4/5 people family and hope to win new friends
that way.
The subject
of the meeting is how to find the right, and holy, balance between family, work
and rest. The focus is actually on the last word: how can we really benefit
from the (Sunday) rest to make that time a value for our family?
The Holy
Father sent a letter to everyone with some hints to work on during these
months as a personal reflection
and as food for thoughts for meetings and conferences.
We have
been asked to introduce this subject in a congress that will take place near
Milan on Feb 19th.
Our point
is to focus on what we believe the true meaning of life is, and act
accordingly.
We could
believe that life means enjoy all pleasure without limits, and thus consider the
weekend as the room where we could, better should, live up to the excess.
We could
believe that life means power and success, and thus focus our time on the job,
addicted to it, workaholic, and then consider the weekend as an obstacle.
We could
believe to be person, creature, aimed to a supernatural goal, to love our
relatives and beloved, and therefore sanctify the weekend using it to stay with
whom we truly love and care.
That’s the provocative message
of this meeting: your ideas and thought are welcomed
