Courtney Hutson

Reblog: the best post retweeted for you

Scroll down for English version

English version

Courtney Hutson is a very busy SAHM of four amazing kids and proud owner of the "One Bored Mommy Blog"!
She became a Mommy Blogger when  they moved from California to Connecticut and she was extremely lonely and bored.  Courtney came across an article on Yahoo about Mommy blogging and thought..."I'll give this a try"..
The One Bored Mommy Blogspot is mainly a product review/giveaway blogspot that offers honest opinions of a mommy who actually uses the products reviewed. And tells nice stories about her family.

1)  Which was the origin of your blog? why you got the idea of it?
"Moving cross country (from California to Connecticut) during the COLD winter months caused me severe BOREDOM (hence the name of my blog).  After reading a Yahoo article about Mommy blogging, I decided to give it a try.  Given my past PR experience and my natural need for cheerleading, I also found it was an outlet for me to vent about being a SAHM of four kids ages 9, 7, 4 and 2".

2)  Your blog is a blend of family tales and reviews of products: is this solution approved and liked by your readers?
"At first, the One Bored Mommy Blogspot was just our PRODUCT REVIEW blog.  I had a personal "family" blog as well.  But when the demand built for the One Bored Mommy Blogspot, I decided to start including both.  I try to refrain from adding to much personal information (like names, locations, etc.) but also want my readers to feel connected with me as a mommy.  With the following I'm receiving, I'd say they actually do "LIKE" it".

3)  You are a work at home mom: is your blog a positive solution for moms who want to work and stay at home? would you suggest it?
"Having a blog is a great way for SAHM's to connect to the outside world, from the confinements of their house.  Though my blog does product reviews (products are sent to our family, free of charge, for us to try out, sample & review)...I do not make any serious money writing my blog on a daily basis.  There have been occasions where I have been paid to add advertisement or links to my posts or sidebar, but for the most part, my blogspot is FREE "word of mouth" advertisement for the companies that we work with and feature".

4)  Which are the subjects that your readers love the most? and why in your opinion?
"Without a doubt, my readers love the giveaways the most!  Who wouldn't want to win free things by just leaving a comment.  I appreciate this idea, especially in the difficult times our economy is facing...however, I do love the attention that my other (non-giveaway) posts receive from my readers as well.  It makes me feel like I am doing a good job spreading the word, when I get feedback from a company that their sales have risen because of my post".

5)  From your perspective which are the main issues parents have to face nowadays?
"In my opinion, being a parent is not an easy job (whether you work or stay at home).  Teaching an infant, then toddler, then child, then teen...to become a person with moral, ethical and spiritual beliefs is quite an undertaking.  Probably the biggest challenge I am seeing in the US is keeping kids steered clear of drugs (of any kind) and just being all around GOOD members of society.  Learning right from wrong, and where the line is drawn.  It takes lots of prayer, perserverence and praise for parents to succeed in these times".

6)  Can you give us three suggestions to raise a family?
"First - Pray constantly for your child!  Prayer will not only encourage you (as a parent), but also give you peace as you child goes out into the world on their own.
Second - Make sure your child knows that you love them...NO MATTER WHAT!  This is huge!  That they have a safe place to come to, even if they have made a mistake (big or small).  GOD placed these children in your arms to be yours for a lifetime...not until they have displeased you.
Third - Remember that parents aren't perfect!  You can only do what you can do!  Your child will choose to go in whatever direction they like, no matter how much you've tried to steer them.  Just trust that you've done enough loving, caring and teaching that they will fall back on those skills when they need them the most!"
